Job Description

We are on the hunt for an exceptional Cartoonist / Illustrator to put your pencil to work for the longest‑running and most widely recognized syndicated cartoons in history. If you love drawing, visual storytelling, and the craft of cartooning—and you have the portfolio to prove it—this role puts your artwork in front of audiences nationwide, every single day. A portfolio of professional cartooning and illustration work is required for consideration.

This is a chance to work on a true cultural classic—and keep it fresh. You’ll create daily and Sunday cartoons that are clear, consistent, and full of personality, turning researched ideas into engaging visual stories. This role is all about drawing: strong craftsmanship, visual humor, and artwork that makes an immediate impression.

Location: Orlando, FL

Job Type: Full-time, salary (We are not accepting contract positions)

Responsibilities

• Illustration & Cartoon Creation (Primary Focus)
• Illustrate original daily and Sunday cartoon panels that uphold the visual style, tone, and standards of a historic syndicated cartoon.
• Produce expressive, publication-ready artwork with strong composition, visual clarity, and consistent character rendering.
• Integrate researched factual content into clear, engaging visual storytelling without sacrificing artistic quality.
• Prepare final artwork with all required elements, including signature, date, copyright, and formatting for syndication.
• Collaborate with editorial and fact-checking teams to review concepts and ensure factual accuracy prior to publication.
• Incorporate editorial feedback while preserving artistic intent and visual integrity.
• Contribute illustrations to additional creative or brand projects as needed.
• Manage digital artwork files using shared team folders, following established naming and versioning conventions.
• Upload work for review, track revisions, and deliver finalized files in required formats for syndication partners.
• Maintain accurate production status updates within the team’s project board to ensure deadlines are met.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Exceptional illustration and cartooning skills with a portfolio demonstrating professional-quality work.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively through images.
• Proficiency with digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop or comparable professional software.
• Strong attention to visual detail, consistency, and accuracy.
• Ability to work within a structured, recurring production schedule and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset and comfort working within an editorial review process.
• Bachelor’s degree in Illustration, Cartooning, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience with a strong illustration or cartooning portfolio may substitute for formal education.
• Submission of a portfolio is required for consideration.
