Position Summary

The telemetry monitor technician supervisor will oversee day to day operations of the telemetry monitor technicians to ensurestandardization of telemetry throughout the hospital and to make certain patients are being safely monitored.

Schedule: 3x12s; 7:00am to 7:30pm with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

 Responsible for completing employee schedule and monitoring time and attendance to ensure work area is adequately staffed.

 Achieves departmental and organizational goals by coordinating activities of the monitor technicians.

 Participates in the departmental process improvement and quality management programs.

 Collaborates with appropriate OH facilities and agencies to ensure protocols are aligned with evidence based guidelines.

 Oversees, analyzes and trends data related to telemetry alarm management to reduce alarm fatigue.

 Assumes other responsibilities as assigned for executing strategic changes to help improve the department’s workflow, staffing,

safety, and efficiency.

 Works in conjunction with learning specialists to ensure staff have the education necessary to recognize/analyze arrythmias.

 Plans and Coordinates process improvement activities.

 Conducts coaching plans and disciplinary actions to improve the performance of the direct reports.

 Assumes responsibility for competency assessment, orientation/training, and education of direct reports.

 Conducts regular meetings with monitor technician staff and direct reports to establish clear and open lines of communication.

 Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.

 Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state

and local standards.

 Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

 Able to attend meetings that affect the direct workgroup in a punctual and consistent manner.

 Collaborates with other cross-functional groups (e.g. clinical team, pharmacists, nursing, and ancillary) to achieve common goals.

 Assumes responsibility for professional development, growth, and education of the monitor technicians.

 Reviews, investigates, and develops action steps to incident reports as they pertain to the direct workgroup.

 Demonstrates leadership skills in both verbal and non-verbal communications and behaviors.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Associate’s degree required. Four (4) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree (in addition

Licensure/Certification

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

Two (2) years’ experience as a telemetry monitor technician.
