Job Description
This position is responsible for processing and maintenance of a variety of documents related to the intake, confinement and release of inmates incarcerated in the Orange County Corrections Department.
Work is performed with considerable independent judgement and is under the direction of the assigned supervisor and is reviewed through periodic conferences and reports
Representative Duties /Assignments
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Review, notarize, and process arrest affidavits and other legal documents related to inmate intake.
- Process release documentation to ensure inmates are released accurately and timely, including verification of bonds when applicable.
- Verify arrest paperwork and court documents for accuracy and completeness, including court scheduling and notarization requirements.
- Enter, update, and maintain inmate information in systems such as the Jail Management System, Teletype, Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC), and National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
- Collaborate with criminal justice partners such as the Clerk of Court, Public Defender, State Attorney, and the Judiciary to ensure documentation meets sentencing, custody, and release requirements.
- Calculate release dates, sentence credits, and authorizations accurately in accordance with applicable laws and departmental procedures.
- Disseminate information to courts, agencies, and the public in compliance with confidentiality standards and departmental policies.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrate integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in data entry, document processing, and customer service. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Florida Crime Information Center / National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) certification within three (3) months of employment.
May be required to possess and maintain Florida Notary Public certification within three (3) months of employment.
Preferences
Associate¿s degree from an accredited institution.
Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Social Service experience.

Salary Information
Pay Grade: 012 - From $19.94 to $25.66
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Placement based on Education and Experience
Additional shift differential pay includes
$ 0.35/per hour for those working B-Shift hours (hours worked between 3pm-11pm, minimum of 4 working hours).
$ 0.50/per hour for those working C-Shift hours (hours worked between 11pm-7am, minimum of 4 working hours).

Educational Requirements

Notes
Body Ornamentation (Tattoos and Branding)

Employees are required to conceal any tattoos that are considered obscene or offensive. Examples of prohibited tattoos include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Content of a sexual nature.
- Sexually, racially, religiously, or ethnically offensive sentiments,
- Sentiments advocating violence or subversion,
- Expressing gang affiliations, or otherwise tending to incite violence or disruption in the workplace, or
- Other content, which if expressed by other means would violate Orange County policies.
Dental Ornamentation
Employees will not use gold, silver, or other caps or veneers for the purpose of dental ornamentation unless deemed medically necessary and prescribed by a licensed dentist. Teeth, whether natural, capped, or veneer, will not be ornamented with designs, jewels or initials.
Employees will be prohibited from unnatural shaping teeth for non-medical reasons (e.g. fangs) or wearing removable dental ornamentation (e.g. grills).
Gauging
Employees are not permitted to wear any type of gauge while on duty or while performing official Department business. Visible openings, for example the earlobe caused by stretching/wearing a gauge must be completely concealed at all times.
