Orange County Government, Florida is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Engineer I, II or III in the Public Works Department, Engineering Division.
Job Description
General Functions
This position performs highly advanced professional engineering work. Work is performed with a considerable degree of independence under the general supervision of the Senior Engineer.
Representative Duties/Assignments
¿ Assists in procuring professional engineering services for capital improvement projects, to include developing scopes of services and fee negotiations.
¿ Reviews construction plans, reports and design calculations for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation Standards, including Florida Greenbook, FDOT Design Manual and Orange County policies.
¿ Assists in managing design contracts including project budget, project schedule
and change orders.
¿ Performs engineering design for minor projects.
¿ Coordinates right-of-way acquisition, utility adjustment and permitting.
¿ Assists in preparing bid documents and provides technical support during construction.
¿ Assists in negotiating and implementing agreements such as utility relocation.
¿ Participates and organizes public meetings.
¿ Hurricane preparation and damage assessment.
¿ Any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Engineer I
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. In Lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Engineer II
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with at least one year of experience in Civil Engineering. In Lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Engineer III
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and four years of experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management. In Lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must possess and maintain a Professional Engineer license from the Florida State Board of Professional Engineers or be able to obtain it within (6) six months from date of hire.
Preferences
- An Engineer Intern (EI) certification is preferred for the Engineer II position.
