Job Description

General Functions

Performs technical medical treatments and assignments not requiring a practical or professional level of nursing. This includes routine intake procedures, initial screenings, minor treatments as ordered by a nurse or physician, assisting physicians in exams and minor procedures. Maintains equipment, supplies and performs data entry. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a physician.

Representative Duties/Assignments

  • Prepares patient for medical exams and treatments.

Provides routine intake procedures, to include vital signs and form preparation.

Documents all patient contacts in medical records.

Assists in the collection and labeling of all specimens.

Administers first aid and other minor treatments under supervision.

  • Assists in data entry, patient scheduling, and statistic collection for census and services performed.

Answers telephone calls, takes messages, and communicates with other members of medical team regarding patient care.

Performs phlebotomy services.

Reads and documents TB Test results.

Attends all mandatory in-service training and education.

  • Provides routine clinic tasks as needed.

Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Satisfactory completion of a vocational Medical Assistant training program. Must be able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends.

Preferences

Experience in direct patient care and/or in a correctional environment.

Proficient in the use of computers.

Pay Grade: 801 - From $18.77 to $21.95
