Director of Behavioral Health Services

You will be instrumental in implementing integrated behavioral health care initiatives across multiple markets, strategically enhancing our health services to deliver high-quality and cost-effective care for our members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage behavioral health and chemical dependency programs, collaborating with regional medical directors to standardize policies for utilization management, aiming to enhance quality outcomes while controlling costs.
- Facilitate regional medical necessity reviews concerning behavioral health matters.
- Work towards standardizing behavioral health utilization management, quality, and financial targets across all service areas.
- Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluate state contract sections relevant to behavioral health.
- Assist in developing educational content on psychiatric diagnoses and treatments for medical directors and lead trainers.
- Conduct advanced clinical reviews, peer reviews, and handle appeals regarding behavioral health.
- Support quality compliance initiatives by engaging with behavioral health committees.
- Implement clinical practice guidelines and medical necessity review standards specifically tailored for behavioral health.
- Monitor clinical programs for compliance with NCQA and CMS standards related to behavioral health.
- Participate in the recruitment and onboarding process for new psychiatric medical directors.
- Ensure behavioral health programs and policies align with industry standards and established best practices.
- Support the launching of new behavioral health initiatives and assist in integrating health plan services.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in medical practice within psychiatry or behavioral health.
- MD or DO degree with an active, unrestricted medical license.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry.
- Strong knowledge of the national, state, and local regulations affecting clinical practice.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed organizational environment.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong critical-thinking, active listening, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing utilization and quality programs.
- Background in managed care.
- Familiarity with peer review processes.
- Healthcare management certifications are a plus.

Pay Range: $186,201.39 - $363,093 / ANNUAL. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
