Lead Substation Project Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will lead complex substation design and project execution within WSP's Power Delivery Substation Team in Maitland, FL. You will guide multi-site projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables that align with client objectives. You'll collaborate across disciplines on design, SCADA, and protection and control systems, shaping efficient solutions for utilities and industrial clients. This position combines technical leadership with a focus on client relationships and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and quality for assigned substations projects
• Perform QA/QC on deliverables and support proposal development
• Contribute to substation equipment specifications and overall design development
• Direct detailed electrical design (one-line, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA) and related analyses
• Coordinate inter-disciplinary design and provide construction support
• Mentor and train team members; ensure adherence to client standards and QA/QC
• Support client relationships and project reporting; occasional travel & site visits

Key requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 7 to 10 years of post-education experience in electrical design for capital power projects
• Engineer license
• Strong knowledge of electrical infrastructure design and related codes/regulations
• Ability to conduct inspections, plan designs, and perform technical computations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead and work independently
• Proficiency with discipline design software (CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP, WIN IGS, Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical)
