As Middle Market Senior Portfolio Manager, you will independently underwrite, structure, and manage complex sponsor-owned and leveraged middle-market credit relationships. You'll lead underwriting, portfolio management, and client calls, collaborating with Investment Banking peers to deliver tailored financing solutions. You'll handle high-risk, large-credit deals and mentor junior teammates, contributing to Truist's growth in the middle-market segment. This role offers impact through shaping credit strategies and risk-aware lending at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the full underwriting process for complex deals and documents; structure and negotiate loan terms
  • Manage assigned portfolio with proactive risk monitoring, performance tracking, and remediation planning
  • Expand client relationships through direct calling and cross-team collaboration; apply pricing and credit policy knowledge
  • Partner with Investment Banking and product partners to deliver solutions
  • Mentor and coach junior PMs, Associates, and Analysts; participate in performance reviews
  • Oversee risk evaluation, compliance, and regulatory requirements; ensure accurate risk ratings and reviews
  • Manage amendments and waivers within the portfolio
  • Lead large, leveraged, PEG-related, or sponsor-financed transactions with minimal supervision
Key requirements
  • 7-10+ years of progressive middle-market credit or mid-corporate underwriting, leveraged finance, sponsor finance, and portfolio management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
  • Mastery with MS Office; strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; solid credit skills
  • Ability to prioritize workflow in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with risk rating, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance
  • Industry or sub-sector expertise; experience with commercial financial institutions or similar environments
  • Mastery of Truist operating systems and commercial applications (e.g., MRA, Salesforce, nCino)
  • Ability to manage a large portfolio and lead cross-functional deal teams
