Overview
Confidential event rental company is hiring a hands-on Director of Operations to run day-to-day execution across warehouse activity, transportation, equipment movement, and on-site event operations. This is a highly visible role for a decisive leader who thrives in a hectic, unpredictable environment and keeps teams and customers aligned through clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily warehouse, delivery/installation, event support, and breakdown operations
- Own visibility into upcoming events, deadlines, staffing/equipment needs, and operational risks
- Direct scheduling and deployment of drivers, install crews, event staff, and outside labor
- Coordinate employee travel logistics (air, hotel, rental cars/ground transportation) for out-of-market events
- Manage equipment movement between warehouses and venues; arrange freight/3PL carriers as needed
- Maintain real-time awareness of asset and fleet location/availability/condition; allocate equipment to meet event requirements while controlling cost
- Serve as escalation point for customer changes/issues; resolve problems quickly and professionally
- Build practical procedures that improve efficiency, safety, communication, and accountability
- Track KPIs (on-time delivery, utilization, productivity, repair costs) and drive continuous improvement
- Control operating costs (labor/overtime, freight, travel, fuel, repairs) while balancing service and profitability
Requirements
- 5+ years operations leadership experience (event rentals/live events/production/staging/hospitality/transportation/logistics preferred)
- Strong experience in workforce scheduling, logistics coordination, and asset management
- Proven ability to make sound decisions fast in a constantly changing environment
- Comfort using operational software to manage scheduling and movement of people/equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and customer-service skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Work Environment / Flexibility
Must be comfortable working in warehouses, loading areas, outdoor venues, and active event environments, including extended standing/walking and occasional assistance with equipment.
