General Manager - Construction

Job Summary

Suncoast Building Materials is seeking an experienced, results-driven General Manager to lead the overall performance of our Central Florida operation. This executive leadership position is responsible for driving profitable sales growth, expanding market share, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring operational excellence across all areas of the business.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader within the commercia/ Residential/ Multi-Family building materials industry who possesses strong relationships with contractors, developers, and construction professionals throughout the Central Florida market. This individual will be responsible for developing strategic growth initiatives, maximizing branch profitability, leading sales and operations, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the business, including sales, operations, purchasing, inventory management, customer service, logistics, financial performance, and employee development. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound business judgment, and the ability to execute strategies that support both short-term objectives and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all branch operations while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and execute sales strategies that increase revenue, profitability, and market share.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial contractors, developers, architects, and key customers.
• Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing sales and operations teams.
• Establish performance goals, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive continuous improvement.
• Manage branch financial performance, including budgets, gross margins, operating expenses, inventory investment, and overall profitability.
• Partner with vendors and manufacturers to strengthen supplier relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Ensure operational efficiency through effective purchasing, inventory control, warehouse management, logistics, and customer service.
• Promote a safe, positive, and customer-focused work environment while maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic planning, market expansion, and long-term business growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience within the building materials distribution industry.
• Demonstrated success managing sales, operations, and financial performance in a commercial distribution environment.
• Established network of commercial construction relationships within the Central Florida market preferred.
• Strong knowledge of drywall, steel framing, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and related construction products.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience with branch budgeting, inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategy, and profit and loss (P&L) management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Agility, Microsoft Office.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
