Silva's Painting is an established commercial painting contractor serving Central Florida since 2006. We specialize in commercial and institutional projects, including schools, government facilities, correctional facilities, administrative buildings, airports, and other large-scale projects.

As we continue to grow and expand our presence in both repaint and new construction, we are looking for an experienced General Manager with a proven background in the commercial painting industry to lead the company's day-to-day operations and help build the management structure necessary for our next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Owner/President. The General Manager will have responsibility for the company's day-to-day operating performance and will oversee Operations, Estimating, and Administration.

We are looking for more than a project manager. The right candidate must be an experienced commercial painting industry leader who understands how estimating, production rates, field labor, project execution, job costing, change orders, billing, collections, cash flow, and profitability work together.

The General Manager will be given meaningful authority to manage the business while working closely with the Owner/President on company strategy, financial performance, major investments, and significant business decisions.

As the company continues to grow, Silva's Painting is also evaluating opportunities to expand into additional Florida markets and pursue select projects outside of Florida, including potential work in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The General Manager will play an important role in evaluating these opportunities and developing the operational structure necessary to support responsible geographic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operations of the company and hold department leaders accountable for results.

Directly oversee the Project Manager/Operations, Chief Estimator, and Office Manager/Administration.

Monitor project performance, labor productivity, schedules, job costs, change orders, billing, collections, and profitability.

Establish accountability and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and profitably.

Work with the estimating department on bid/no-bid decisions, pricing strategy, project risk, capacity, and profitable backlog.

Strengthen the transition and handoff from estimating to operations.

Monitor company financial performance, cash flow, accounts receivable, working capital, overhead, and operating expenses.

Develop and maintain management reporting, KPIs, forecasts, and regular management meetings.

Improve systems, procedures, communication, and accountability throughout the organization.

Develop department leaders and build a management structure that allows the company to operate effectively without depending on the Owner's daily involvement.

Help guide the company's continued development in the commercial repaint and new-construction markets.

Evaluate and support potential geographic expansion, including manpower planning, mobilization, logistics, project supervision, financial controls, and operational readiness for projects outside the company's traditional Central Florida market.

Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and other business partners.

Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, professionalism, and profitability.

Required & Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of management experience working for a commercial painting contractor.

Demonstrated experience leading commercial painting operations, projects, field labor, and management personnel.

Strong working knowledge of commercial painting estimating, production rates, labor productivity, job costing, change orders, billing, collections, and project profitability.

Experience managing managers or department leaders and holding them accountable for measurable results.

Demonstrated financial management experience, including responsibility for profitability, budgets, P&L performance, cash flow, or business-unit financial results.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of commercial painting industry experience, including senior operations, project management, or general management responsibility.

Experience with government and institutional painting projects such as schools, municipalities, airports, correctional facilities, or other public-sector facilities.

Experience with both repaint/renovation and new construction painting projects.

Experience developing management systems, procedures, KPIs, and accountability structures.

Experience supporting geographic expansion or managing projects across multiple markets or locations.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position is not measured by revenue growth alone. The General Manager will be expected to improve and maintain company profitability, project margins, cash flow, labor productivity, estimating-to-operations handoff, accounts receivable and collections, operational discipline, management accountability, customer satisfaction, safety, and development of the leadership team.

A major measure of success will be building an organization that can operate successfully without requiring the Owner to manage day-to-day activities.

Compensation

Base Salary: $125,000-$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus performance-based incentive compensation and benefits. The incentive program is designed to reward profitable company performance and strong financial and operational results.
