Job Description

General Functions

This key position assists in the implementation of treatment and educational programs for abused, neglected, and emotionally or socially challenged children placed in residential care. The Senior Technician is responsible for the safety, supervision, and overall welfare of children in care and works closely with Community Service Workers, Senior Children¿s Services Counselors, and other staff to support each child¿s development and functioning.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Residential Services Supervisor and is evaluated through meetings, observations, and the achievement of desired outcomes.

Representative Duties/Assignments

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative and not intended to include all responsibilities:

  • Maintains continuous supervision of children at all times and notifies supervisors of any unusual issues or concerns
  • Assesses children¿s needs and applies appropriate social learning techniques
  • Supervises and/or participates in planned activities for children
  • Develops and implements strategies to address behavioral challenges
  • Monitors children¿s physical condition and reports medical needs to ensure proper care and documentation
  • Transports children to and from scheduled activities and appointments
  • Prepares required reports and ensures all documentation is accurate, timely, and complete
  • Coordinates with case management and clinical staff to implement treatment and case plans
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service training
  • Assists in implementing educational and behavioral management goals and contributes to their development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in direct childcare

OR

  • Associate degree (or at least 60 college credits) from an accredited institution

Note: Additional relevant experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver¿s License

Preferences

  • Experience working in a residential care setting
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and email applications

Pay Grade: 410 - From $16.94 to $21.31
