Overview

In this role you will lead advanced traffic engineering initiatives as a recognized technical authority, directing signal systems, ITS, and corridor studies. You will work autonomously to shape technical strategy, establish standards, and influence projects across states and internationally. You will mentor junior engineers and manage key client relationships while contributing to the firm's transportation practice. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence traffic operations on major waterfront and infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities
  • Set internal and industry standards for traffic engineering approaches and methods
  • Apply deep knowledge of signal design, traffic control systems, and ITS
  • Manage complex traffic engineering programs across the state, US, and internationally
  • Direct traffic impact studies, capacity and operations analyses, and corridor/intersection safety evaluations
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, state DOTs, and private clients
  • Mentor junior engineers in signal timing, traffic control plans, signing and pavement markings
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages; coordinate design activities and meetings; identify variances and corrective actions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Engineering
  • 18+ years of experience in traffic engineering
  • Florida PE licensure
  • Extensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles including signal design, ITS, and operations
  • Expert in managing complex traffic engineering programs across US and internationally
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and traffic modeling software (Synchro, HCS, VISSIM)
  • Strong network with municipal, state, and federal DOT/regulatory staff
  • Background check per NIST 800-171; E-Verify employment requirement
