Department Manager - Geotechnical Engineering

In this role you lead the Geotechnical Engineering Department within Intertek-PSI, driving growth, profitability, and high-quality service in A/E/C projects. You will manage client relationships, mentor staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver field, laboratory, and engineering analyses. You shape risk management and project outcomes by ensuring technical excellence and effective operations. This position offers an opportunity to influence geotechnical practice and grow a profitable service line.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee geotechnical projects including field exploration, lab services, engineering analyses, and reports
  • Provide quality control reviews of proposals and reports and ensure commitments to clients are met
  • Drive business development and marketing efforts, building and maintaining client relationships on technical assignments
  • Mentor and train junior professional staff
  • Engage with professional/technical organizations to strengthen network and capabilities
  • Manage profitability, growth planning, and cost control for the department
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of leadership, management, and/or engineering project management experience
  • Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from ABET-accredited program
  • Customer focused and quality driven
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand work plans
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record
