Florida Transportation Business Group Manager

Overview

In this role you lead HDR's Florida Transportation Business Group, guiding staff, projects, and profitability across multiple counties. You'll align client work with HDR's collaborative, employee-owned culture to deliver safe, sustainable mobility solutions. You will drive business growth, oversee multi-disciplinary teams, and coordinate with regional leaders to position HDR for strategic pursuits. This is an opportunity to shape transportation systems at scale while fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations of the Florida transportation group, including staff development, project delivery, profitability, workload, morale, quality control, and marketing support
• Develop and implement growth strategies with business development staff to diversify the client base
• Serve as a project principal and coordinate services across service lines with other HDR sections
• Prepare annual revenue forecasts and budgets and monitor group performance
• Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel; lead multi-discipline teams
• Collaborate with Regional and National Directors and coordinate with other business lines
• Coordinate services with other staff and ensure high-quality deliverables
• Contribute to marketing and positioning HDR for strategic client and project pursuits

Key requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field
• Minimum 10 years of progressive transportation engineering experience
• Professional engineering registration (or equivalent)
• Proven leadership of diverse teams and client relationships in Florida
• Commitment to HDR values and employee-owned culture
• Active participation in professional or industry associations
• Ability to work with regional/local managers and marketing teams
