In this role you lead the Quality Assurance team supporting the Optical and Photonics Systems business, safeguarding mission-critical space and airborne laser systems. You will drive QA strategy, QA metrics, and cross-site process alignment to mature from prototype to production. You partner with manufacturing and engineering to ensure product quality and compliance, while advancing continuous improvement and audits. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop quality engineers, analysts, and inspectors; manage inspector program
- Oversee inspection processes and approve reports to ensure compliance with requirements
- Define in-process inspection criteria across product lines and sites
- Drive cross-site QA efficiency and fidelity; align processes
- Develop future QA strategy from prototype to rate production
- Manage QMS continuous improvement and ISO9001 implementation; transition to AS9100
- Coordinate internal and external audits; implement corrective actions
- Manage non-conforming material, CAPA, and supplier corrective actions
- Lead QA training program and metrology issues; calibration, gauge R&R, production capability studies
- Create/update work instructions and procedures; evaluate new inspection tech/tools
- Support Mission Assurance metrics and customer meetings on quality issues
- Report QA performance to management; liaise with internal/external stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements
- 10+ years of Quality Management/Quality Engineering experience or equivalent
- Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality systems
- Experience with design, production, product evaluation, reliability, inspection/test; contract review
- Proficiency with root cause analysis tools (Ishikawa, FMEA, FMECA, 5Why)
- Excellent written and oral communication; strong interpersonal, problem-solving, time management
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
- Ability to travel up to 50% and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain government security clearance in the future
