Alternate Delivery Design Manager - Transportation (Multiple Locations)

In this role you will lead the pursuit, design, and delivery of transportation alternate delivery projects within a growing, employee-owned practice. You will partner with national leadership and regional teams to help scale the business across the Midwest, South, and Southeast, aligning project goals with quality and safety standards. You'll drive pursuit strategy, staffing plans, and multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver high-impact transportation design-build outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role that unlocks growth opportunities and expands the firm's alternate delivery portfolio.

- Manage pursuit, design, and delivery of alternate delivery transportation projects
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams through pursuit and execution
- Support business development with project owners and partners
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies with leadership
- Develop pursuit strategy, scope of services, and proposals
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource planning with leadership
- Monitor budgets, schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics
- Mentor project managers, engineers, and design professionals
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety policies, and diversity initiatives
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
- Participate in employee development and performance feedback
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 10 years related engineering, consulting, project management, or alternate delivery experience
- 15+ years of experience preferred
- Experience managing complex transportation design or design-build projects
- Experience with proposal development, project planning, budget management, scheduling, and client coordination
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments
- Strong collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
- DBIA certification preferred
- PE preferred
- Travel 50%
